Amazing Madelyn Grace: Slowly but surely.

Another day here at Skyline, but we are always glad to hear good news about Madelyn.

Her night nurse Hunter (a.k.a Winter) said she had a good, restful night. She said that Mad was also starting to open her eyes without anyone asking her to! We are hopeful that she will be more alert today since they changed her sedation and maybe we can get a chance to see her green eyes a little longer than just a few seconds.

We came in this morning to hear Luke Combs coming from her room. Luckily for us and everyone, she was not getting out of bed for him today; at least not yet.We told Hunter that he was her favorite, so she’s been playing it for some familiarity. She also mentioned that we can bring in other items that will remind Madelyn of herself as she starts to become less sedated, like a signature perfume or scent.

Her oxygen is back up slightly to 60% to help her breath with all of her secretions and they have just finished another bronchial cleanse on her today. Her swelling also goes down by the day. Today is just another day of small steps towards her getting better and letting her body rest.

There is a popular Luke Combs songs “Beautiful Crazy” which was the first one we heard when we walked over to her room this morning. There’s a line in it that says “she can’t help but amaze me.” Every day is a new day of small steps to get Madelyn better, and it’s amazing to see her strength and the small bits and pieces of her starting to return to normal. I can’t even imagine what she is going through and will go through once she’s more alert, but I hope that she understands just how strong she is and how many people are praying for and loving her as she heals.

(Editor’s note: I’m going to try and figure out a way to send email notifications when updates get posted, but I’m not quite sure how to do that yet. I’ll do my research. Please be on standby.)

Philippians 4:6 - Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
