Amazing Madelyn Grace: More time to rest.
Happy Saturday. Here’s what we know so far this morning:
Madelyn was awake and alert but very uncomfortable, restless and anxious. They moved her room from the end of the hall to right in front of the nurses station so they can keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn’t try to get out of bed(yikes!)
Early this morning she was trying to communicate with us but she can’t talk with the tube. It frustrated her to not be able to tell us what she wanted and it was making us frustrated because we couldn’t understand what she was saying or help her. Her nurse came in and adjusted her bed to get her comfortable and turned up her sedation so she can rest. It’s crucial for Madelyn to rest right now and not flail around so she doesn’t hurt herself or mess up any of the tubes and gadgets attached to her.
The next few days will just be a lot of the same. As much as we want to see her and talk to her, it only makes her more anxious and we don’t want to do that to her.
We have decided that for right now, any visitors at the hospital won’t go back and see Madelyn due to her anxiety. We are just trying to do everything we can to keep her calm so that the doctors and nurses can do the best they can at taking care of her. We love seeing the people who care for her but in the best interest of Mad visitors won’t go back to see her.
Patience is a virtue. Thank you for everything.
